I plan on being involved in the music business, involving record deals, concert promotions, and being a musician as well. Because this major is not offered here at USF I could not interview anyone. I was, however able to talk to many of my peers about their feelings on job security in music.

The performing arts are by far the least secure of professions. Most shows only last a month or two, and obtaining a job is based on talent only. Music is very popular, so it is always a huge contest for 1 job. A trumpet section of four can attract 5000 auditions.

I know that in order to be able to be secure in music, I must be in tip top shape with my playing, and have many, many contacts. This is what many of my peers beleive to be the best course of action. While i may not be secure, i will be doing what I love.

Ecological Lifestyle

My Carbon Footprint was 3.6 mostly because of the lack of energy used in my house for heating. I drive a moderate distance, but still below the average per week per american. The test said that eating locally grown foods, and less meat could improve my footprint drastically, so in the 24 hour period, I tried that. In the end I actually saved money while improving my footprint at the same time

Technology Challenge

Spending Twenty Four hours without technology was very difficult. I had to put many things aside, including homework. I was very bored throughout the expirement, and found out that all my entertainment is techonology-based. i felt disconnected from society during the time, because I had no access to Social networks such as Myspace, Facebook, and emails. During this time, I reflected on how people lived without the privelages of technology. Our society has become so dependent upon technology.

Throughout the experiment, I saw people on their computers for hours, and people walking around with their iPods. Walking to class without my iPod, I felt different, and odd. It made me realise how dependent both societ and i are on technology.

One Challenge

With the election of Barack Obama, many Americans have an optimistic view on the fututre of the country. Unfortunately, the problems that the Bush administration started will carry on through Obama's first term. Although this is evident, Obama will still provide great change and hope for America.

The next four years are very important to me. It will be a time of success, failure, hapiness, and sadness. I plan to graduate from college, get married, buy a house, and a new car. If there was one challenge that is the biggest to me in the next four years, it would be my finances.

I am paying for college, while driving around an aging car and going 30 miles home every weekend. This is a both economic and social problem. I want to see my friends and family, but economics could prevent that. It seems like all Americans are begginning to realise their economic problems. thousands of people are losing their jobs and are struggling to pay the bills.

The next four years under Obama's administration will be the deciding point in America's history. Will we continue to fall into a depression, or will we rise? It is up to this next administration.
